How did Serve2Sustain start?

Serve2Sustain started because we noticed a big problem: tennis balls aren't easy to recycle. We realized this after playing tennis together during our summer camp at Wharton. We come from different places, Chicago and Westport Connecticut, however, in both places urban and rural there was a way to repurpose tennis balls. We wanted to find a way to recycle tennis balls to help the environment and keep our favorite sport sustainable.

Tennis balls are tricky to recycle because they're made of different materials. You can't just toss them in the regular recycling bin. This creates a lot of waste, which isn't good for the environment.

Inspired by the Wharton program's focus on thinking outside the box, we decided to find a solution. We worked together to create a machine that could separate the different parts of a tennis ball for recycling. This was a big breakthrough in making tennis more eco-friendly.

Our machine can break down tennis balls into recyclable parts. For example, we found out that the seal from tennis balls can be reused for tennis courts. This not only helps the environment but also makes the sport more sustainable.

Serve2 Sustain has made a big impact by showing that even small changes can make a difference. We want to keep growing and work with tennis facilities and tournaments to make tennis ball recycling more common. Together, we can make a big difference for the environment.

Serve2 Sustain is all about making tennis greener. By finding ways to recycle tennis balls, we're helping to keep our favorite sport sustainable for years to come. With teamwork and innovation, we can make a big impact on the environment.
